COPYRIGHT
Copyright in Australia is governed by federal laws, set out in the Copyright Act (1968).
Music we are learning or have learned is made available to us because we have paid a copyright fee to the original composer/lyricist of the music via the publisher who manages the rights to the music. We are then given a copyright license. We pay another fee if we want to publish, perform, communicate (video, YouTube, on a website etc) or adapt the music.
The copyright license allows us to print only the number of copies of the sheet music that we have paid for – usually one copy per member. Making more copies than this will not only breach our contract but also infringe copyright and fines may apply!
YOUR RESPONSIBILITY:
Please write your name and the date you printed your copy on your sheet music. If an auditor visited rehearsal and your copy was inspected you need to be able to identify your music as yours.
You should check at home for extra copies of chorus music and destroy them or return them to chorus.
Recordings saved on CKC’s Members Only site or on our YouTube account, for instance choreography rehearsal, are for our private use and are password-protected. No recordings of chorus performances or rehearsals can be shared outside the chorus at any time. Please ensure you do not keep recordings of any kind after you have used them.
When a member leaves CKC all music should be returned to CKC.
